Reinglen Kuro (Kuro)

Kuro is related to all of my foundational dam lines:

Kuro's father is my stud dog Roman, and her mother Lexi is owned by my very good friends Cheryl and Rob Spurr.

Kuro's mother Lexi was a daughter of a Ulla son called Rolland (the litter brother to the female I own called Milly) and a Callie daughter called Bluebell (my total heart dog).

Thus as well as containing worldwide lines known for producing top winning working dogs and top winning confirmation dogs Kuro is also made up of lines that are very special to my heart.

Line-breeding

Kennel Club genetic coefficient: 0%

Mixing of all of the different 'types' of GSD within her pedigree will further increase her genetic diversity

In 4 generations of her pedigree Kuro has only one dog that appears twice, and this dog appears twice in her 4th generation.

This dog is Asoka Juno.

Asoka Juno's kennel club genetic coefficient is: 0%

Asoka Juno has produced the following hip and elbow scores: 5 + 0 elbows (2 years of age), 10 (2 1/2 years of age), 13 + 0 elbows (1 year and 7 months).

Asoka used to hold the breed record (it then went to the kennel who bred Kuro's Great-Grandfather), were renowned for producing dual purpose dogs, and to the best of the breeders knowledge still hold the record for a GSD winning the most best in shows at General Championship status. Asoka is still behind an obedience GSD kennel who is still competing with these lines.

Kuro is:

At over 3 years of age Kuro has had one litter.

This litter was to an imported working line male (Harro vom Heiligental of Reinglen BH).

If this litter continues to develop promisingly I will aim to repeat this litter with an intention to retain a puppy from it at a later date.

As well as being the producer of Grandma of the puppies whom is a PAT dog, etc.

I am of the belief that a lot of Merjuke’s Anona’s Patroller’s ‘special quality’ has passed into her descendants and Grand descendants (which include a therapy dog, a dog in training for search and rescue, etc.) as she herself was always able to work her magic on whomever she met.

Kuro’s awards

4 months of age:  'Champion puppy under 6 month of age’ & 1st place winner (over 40 dogs in her class) & qualifier for super dog puppy Championship

4 1/2 months of age (earliest available test following becoming fully vaccinated): Bronze good citizen holder

5 months of age: 1st place obedience winner in a class open to all members of BAGSD & a local obedience club (she was by far the youngest dog within her class)

6 months of age: 1st kennel club confirmation show: Best Puppy in Breed

6 months of age: 2nd kennel club confirmation show: Best Puppy in Breed & Pastoral Puppy Group 3

7 months and 1 day of age: Gold good citizen & silver good citizen holder

7 months and 1 week of age: 2nd place Championship obedience show in which she was the only puppy with the other dogs being several years of age within her class.  She held 1st place until the last dog, and lost her 1st place by a 1/4 of a point.  In reflection when she started rolling on her back whilst I gave the judge her details I should have taken her back out of the ring, as when she set off to do her heel work she brought a leg up to scratch her belly which cost her 1/4 of a point.  I was told if she had not done this she would have won 1st place at her very first Championship show.  However I was still very proud of her 2nd place.

8 months of age: 1st place WALCCS under a highly respected breed Championship judge

8 months of age: An embarrassing 3rd place at a fun WALCCS obedience class, as she saw her breeder and leaped out of heel position and charged forwards towards her.

Kuro_with_Wilbur.jpgKuro_smaller.jpg

Kuro is a very intelligent, loves pleasing me, and will work for either food or a ball only.  Kuro has so far won 1st places in both confirmation and working classes giving credit to her lines which were bred for brains and beauty. Kuro takes everything in her stride, and has so far been commended on her prey drives, focus, heel work, precision in obedience etc. by varying respected judges in different fields of dog sports. The fact that she has taken so well to varying disciplines is a testament to her character, working ability, and lines, as on average most GSD dogs are trained for one competitive discipline only. Everything that I have done to date with Kuro is all just for fun, as I have enjoyed exploring and developing her personality without the pressure of competition.  Despite this as can be seen above she has already proven her aptitude for winning in competitions.

Since the end of 2013 Kuro has had a break from training and competing, as I decided to have a break from the competition world.  I believe that if I had of continued to compete with her she would have obtained further 1st places in obedience classes in addition to going onto work towards obtaining her working trials awards.  In 2015 I made a decision to start training her again at 2 ½ years of age including taking her to an IPO club.  I am aiming to get an AD and BH award with her whilst hoping to get a FPR1 (an IPO tracking award) with her at a later date.

Kuro is a total sweetheart with both people, children, and other animals.  Kuro’s has one litter sister who is a therapy dog & a 1st place obedience winner, another litter sister who is in training for search and rescue, and a half-sister (same father) and cousin once removed (via this dog’s mother’s lines) who is going to be in training as a therapy dog, etc.  Kuro’s own mother is also a PAT dog (alongside other awards) who completes amazing work with people.  I believe that this special quality about these dogs comes down via Kuro’s Grandmother (her mother’s own mum), as she herself had a ‘magical' about her that she worked on everyone that met her.

Kuro’s pedigree is made up of a blend of top worldwide working lines & European show lines (including dogs that also have a working award, etc.) & UK obedience / dual purpose lines.  This not only further increased her genetic diversity (as most singular ‘types’ of GSD be they working or show lines go back to certain dogs which decreases their genetic diversity), but it also helped to produce an intelligent girl who wanted nothing more than to please me, and it gave her an off button that made her easier to live with as a household pet.

I would like to have a litter from Kuro.  I would be looking to choose a male that would complement the intelligence within Kuro’s lines. Although Kuro loves playing and would retrieve a ball all day long I would also be looking to choose a male that had more prey (desire to play) drive than Kuro and which had higher possession (desire to keep the toy in its mouth which can help put more ‘drive’ / flashy work into a dog’s obedience style, give it more desire to work for a toy alone, assist with a retrieve, etc.) than Kuro does. It also goes without saying that I would choose a good looking male with good health test results (hips, elbows, and haemophilia), good health results within his pedigree, and that will also produce a litter with a low KC genetic coefficient with Kuro.  It also goes without saying that this male would also have to display a good safe temperament around other people, dogs, animals, etc. I would also like to choose a male that I felt was displaying good work / potential within the obedience or IPO field, and I would preferably like to choose one who was sired by at least one parent who had produced other progeny whose work / potential work that also caught my eye within either the obedience or IPO field. Because I am looking for a male that would compliment the working potential within Kuro I would be looking at a male of working lines only for the time being.
